Stroke Strikes The Young

Strokes are striking the young nowadays. It is not only the older ones who are at risk even those in their 30s are at risk. This is according to Malaysian Society for Hypertension.

According to what was reported in The Star, those in the 30s are

not eating right, working longer hours, therefore do not exercise much

Prudential publishes claim information quarterly and while in the past, younger people claiming for stroke is very few, I’ve seen more and more such claims happening.

Young stroke

Among the risk factors are high blood pressure, alcohol, smoking, high cholesterol and physical inactivity. While having insurance cover is important, as part of risk management i.e. reducing the risk, you can remove the contributing factors thus reducing your risk of suffering from a stroke.

You can reduce the odds of stroke striking you in your favor.

Read The Fine Print

Malaysian’s don’t read! Okay, perhaps we are too lazy to read. Some time ago I received a call from a customer, let’s call him Kenny. He took up life insurance from me. What happened was Kenny went on a trip overseas, tickets by none other than our very own AirAsia. Naturally, AirAsia being one of the smartest marketing company around, sold travel insurance and my friend bought it together when he bought the tickets.

Kenny’s flight was delayed due to bad weather and he called me if he could make a claim. My first answer is “should be” since that’s the main objective of travel insurance. But then again, I thought I’d better checked. Obviously that job went to me, the friendly insurance guy. I thought that taking some time to know this would also benefit me in the long run. Even Big Companies Get Caught Up

CNN Money posted an article that says the Exxon Mobil group is flush with cash and waiting to buy up a smaller rival. Yes, Exxon Mobil is the company that has petrol stations with the Esso as well as Mobil brand.

What Exxon did was to hold back their investments when almost all oil companies around the world were tripping over themselves to increase production when oil prices shot up. Many such companies end up paying exorbitant prices to get leases and other equipment needed to bring crude to market.
